Yurt holidays offer glamping at its very best

Are you horrified at the thought of a camping holiday? Spending hours struggling with tent poles and guy ropes, sleeping on the ground feeling the drip of water leaking through the roof? After all, who actually enjoys waking up under damp canvas with a stiff back and numb cold feet, gritting your teeth through a cold shower after eating a lukewarm breakfast?

Ok, we may be over-painting the picture, but wouldn’t you rather open the front door of your yurt after a good nights sleep under the stars, wrapped in a soft fluffy duvet with wood burning stove to keep you warm? 

If you’re tempted by the idea of a holiday enjoying the rhythm and quiet of nature and the fun of an evening campfire then perhaps our luxury camping yurts are just what you are looking for - all the comforts of a hotel but with a real sense of adventure and space.

Glamping (glamorous camping) first appeared about five years ago, and the concept is thought primarily to be a British invention – possibly sprung out of an increasing demand for eco-holidays and a desire to enjoy a slower, more simple pace of life.

Growing concern for the environment and the increasing cost of overseas holidays means we are becoming less quick to take to the skies and more predisposed to a luxurious take on a traditional leisure activity - and the increasing popularity of posh camping has been nurtured by one or two high-profile aficionados, including Kate Moss and Sienna Miller.

Glamping in our yurts offers all the pleasures of living under canvas, combining lovely countryside and beautiful sea views with a real sense of escape. Whether you want to be greeted by luxury organic hampers or enjoy our own produce reared or grown on in the field next door, yurt holidays are the original back-to-basics holiday, but the good news is that there’s no longer anything basic about it.
